Hey friends: question for those with more knowledge than I. Last night I saw someone claim that our attachment to bisexuality is strange because it used to be based on a gender binary and we should stop holding onto this term, saying that we can evolve past it or some such.

I came out in 2009/10. That’s always been the definition ive used. Non-binary bi folks have always existed in the bi community. That said, the definition of bisexuality has evolved since the 60s. Most bi folks admit that.

Our understanding of sexuality and gender have been increasing a lot over the last decade. It’s why most people think more inclusive definitions of sexuality are only a few years old but they do have older roots.
