To be honest, I don't appreciate what a lot of this says, for many reasons. Yes, he acknowledges the horrible history of A-S. But when I said that when white academics say we should ignore the bigots, that enables this behaviour. I was right.

The ignoring of white supremacy and racism in the field (and btw, maybe a lot of the academics weren't actual white supremacists but they were engaging in racist microaggressions and shit like that) is what enables it to fester. It's why it's a problem.

This thing seems a bit both-sides-y, like the ECRs and MOC and queer scholars are also to blame for the furor. As if we weren't responding to some seriously awful shit from fellow colleagues.
