Is it the same as this? https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/24635/lot/19/ … That says it's French in origin. Do you know more about the Greek original (e.g., date)?

The Greek original was from John Chrysostom, according to the BL entry. So 4th to 5th c Greek. http://www.bl.uk/manuscripts/Viewer.aspx?ref=or_637_f001r …

I feel like that summary is saying it's a series of different texts? But IDK and you have the degree!

The manuscript is a series of texts, as many are. But if you see, it says the Miracles of Mary attributed to John Chrysostom, where it gives the translation of the first line into English. I am suspect of that site you posted. It gives no sources for the French origin.

This is making me crazy! Please stop pronouncing on this. You don't know what you are talking about and you are making it worse with every entry. Please go read something about the Täˀammərä Maryam.

I'm more than happy to hear more about it, but the BL entry is pretty clear. If you have an issue with it, then take it up with them, if they are misinformed on the origins of the text.

The BL is not the authority on Ethiopian literature! You cannot refer to an entry from it as the authority.

I'm not saying it's an authority. If they are wrong, okay. But I am looking at the description, and unless it's unclear it says John Chrysostom, 9r to 105r, and within that it includes the Miracles of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

I cannot read Ge'ez, so I am at a loss there to what it says and why they would claim it is a different text. However, there are going to be various texts about the Miracles of Mary, why is it out of the question for them to have a different Greek text of something similar?

I never proclaimed to be an expert. I was simply replying to someone who was using an unscholarly website to refute the original tweet by finding a source on it.

Okay? I never thought this was private, but that statement reads as very threatening. If I'm wrong, that's fine. But you've been incredibly rude.
