depictions of mental illness are different from depictions of neurodiversity though. Not entirely different, but quite different. They aren't in different countries, but they are in different post codes. i admit, i bristle when i feel like someone is equating/conflating the two

Not sure it’s that cut and dry to be honest. Attitudes towards disability both physical and mental have a great deal of overlap in medieval sources. Moreover, since neurodivergent people can have depression/anxiety as the result of dealing with their neurodivegence 1/
