It is striking to me that when I said I wanted to move away from using AS in my thesis and replace it with Early English or early medieval England I was informed by a particular person in the field that it was more than defensible.

Thank you for this. It’s sobering but unsurprising. Thank you for speaking out, though. You are the change our field needs. And it’s really heartening to hear that scholars like you have already been examining this terminology in their work.
