Interesting story about white privilege (maybe a Woolf in sheep's clothing) & allyship from our junior scholars. These ECR are BRAVE AS HELL! Anyway, that professor is high on white privilege. Also, @AdmiralHip's thesis is going to ROCK! #medievaltwitterhttps://twitter.com/AdmiralHip/status/1171758105929113600 …

It is striking to me that when I said I wanted to move away from using AS in my thesis and replace it with Early English or early medieval England I was informed by a particular person in the field that it was more than defensible.

You are brave as fuck. I'm not worthy! Don't stop being brave. Some of us with big mouths have your back. ❤️ I want to hear more about your thesis.

I think you’re brave af. Mad respect. I’m doing a comparative analysis of kingship as an ideology in early med Ireland and Britain. Trying to approach it from an anthropological perspective, history of ideas, culture history sort of angle.

I’m hoping to explore how elites constructed these ideologies and how regular people may have consumed or interacted with these ideologies during a time of religious conversion/interaction. Discussion of performance and presentation. And what may have excluded people.

Seems to be a gender aspect plus a spatial aspect to determining who had the “right” to rule, and how that was constantly negotiated and changed.

Nothing published yet I’m afraid, in the final year now and I’m plugging away. Have a few things I might want to work into articles, just need to find the time haha.
