In Alberta, dental costs are really horrible due to fees being based on an outdated fee schedule so insurance only covers a small amount because there aren’t caps on what dentists can charge. But the longest wait I have seen is for psychological assessment (6 months) and for voluntary surgery assessment (6 months).

The most I had to pay for medication (heavy duty painkillers) was under $100 for a week. Medication is the only thing that needs to really change here, in terms of cost. But it is provincially managed. So some provinces may much less.

We have had the lowest taxes of any province for decades because we had a conservative government for 40 years. When that ended for a short stint, they still remained low.
