#IMC2019 saw some really appalling behaviour from audiences yesterday. Chatting when the speaker is presenting, yelling at/interrupting a person asking a question to “speak up” (after talking during the paper), coming in late but very loudly, eating food with loud packets

Seeing a lot of rude/condescending/insulting questions about genuinely new approaches to medieval studies. How do you think we innovate? We need to move outside the arbitrary boundaries defined by previous scholarship.

This isn’t to discourage people from speaking at Leeds but this behaviour was from ECRs and senior academics alike. You all should know better, frankly. Consider how horrible that would be if you were speaking?
