Certainly! So, for instance, the early English almost never call themselves "Anglo-Saxons." That's a 19th-century invention. They usually call themselves "Anglisch" [English], Anglecynn [English], or just "Angles."

I would say that we don’t actually know: elites from “Anglian” kingdoms did, but we don’t know what the peoples from Wessex, Sussex, Essex, etc called themselves because we don’t have the sources from them. Anglo-Saxon is anachronistic and has bad modern connotations

But using Angle or Angelcynn etc is also not that accurate as a general term. Although Bede does refer to “Saxon” kingdoms iirc. Unfortunately we don’t have a great option that is accurate or had baggage.
