You might want to frame your diploma. I haven't yet because I'm broke but the school frames at my University are $250 to $600.

It’s not standard. Look, grad school is expensive, but your thread lists a few outrageous, possibly illegal, and definitely unusual items. Never heard of graduation announcements. Where is this happening?

Maybe, bc your location says "mostly Ottawa"& her location is in the US, her experiences are different than yours. Is it possible that YOU don't know what you're talking about? Bc she's absolutely correct about the costs to fully participate in US graduation traditions.

I'm Canadian too, and everyone I knew who did a masters or PHD had all those costs except the official announcement cards. In Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, BC, Alberta... they all had those costs.

You have to have at least one copy bound for the university to hold on to. More if you want a copy for yourself.
