But he still had hay in his mouth when I found him, which means he just suddenly keeled over. I suspect a heart problem, but it will take a braver shepherd than I to open up a carcass that's been lying in 90F heat for a few hours.

Anyway, dropping dead suddenly with a mouth full of food is a pretty good way for a sheep to go. He had a good life and a good death. Every day I expected to find him dead, honestly, he was that tiny.
