And...we all curate ourselves for social media. It's a weird thing, because people get odd ideas about the level of intimacy they have with you. Cf the people who think it's OK to just pop in and tweet sexual innuendo at me -- I'll ask you once to not if I'm feeling generous.

Otherwise it's straight to mute or block. Because odds are if you only know me from twitter, we don't have the kind of relationship where I'm OK with you doing that.

I think the most on-brand thing I've gotten explained to me was when I mentioned wanting my ears pierced -- AFTER having gotten a full sleeve of tattoos on my right arm, so I pretty clearly had a handle on the body mod thing -- and someone told me not to go to Claire's.

And it's like....seriously? I have people. I have a shop I go to. They do tattoos, they poke holes in you, one of the guys will do electrocautery branding for you if you're up for it, I think I got this.

Seriously, even with innocuous stuff I get just nonsense advice and replies. When told they aren’t being helpful, these folks I don’t know get VERY indignant. Well shit, I didn’t ask you to follow me.
