her proof was apparently in her psych textbook, which referred to a study where 6mo babies would choose toys that conformed to traditional gender roles and their general behaviour skewed towards that as well.

I was pretty skeptical of the conclusions of that study (if that was even what it was saying, I never got to see it), but if it did, babies are not exempt from the impacts of media and adults around them.

oh and I think she said also that the study confirmed female babies are more inclined to be catty towards each other, gossip, etc. Something like that.

As if the first six months in a baby’s life aren’t kind of... pivotal... a fellow student once told me gender was innate because her daughter likes pink toys... I felt similarly exasperated
