The Domesday is great but I don’t get why it’s in an Anglo-Saxon exhibit.https://twitter.com/UkNatArchives/status/1054303865296863232 …

As far as I know, it’s value to Anglo-Saxonists is looking at the survival of place-names and personal names after 1066.

But it’s not an Anglo-Saxon document.

I don't think you can have an archival exhibit at the British Library without trotting it out, though.

But if it’s specifically about the Anglo-Saxons I find it odd that it’s being considered a “jewel” in the exhibit.

It's the Domesday Book. They're obligated by their Englishness to call it a jewel

Especially since they have some amazing manuscripts on display that are actually Anglo-Saxon, or at least from the period. One of them is from my library.
