I think but I don’t believe I can prove that my great-great grandfather was adopted into a white family. I have searched in vain to find any record of this. All I have are dubious family stories. It’s upsetting, because I fear he was stolen from his birth family.

And chances are I’ll never know who his real parents were, where they were from, or their own histories.

I’m just reminded of this because of Senator Warren’s DNA thing. I have been told my whole life my great-great grandfather was Indigenous. His family wasn’t though, but he doesn’t look anything like his siblings or parents either.

I don’t really care about demanding some NA history because if it not mine, then it isn’t. Even if he was indigenous that doesn’t make me either.

But I want to know more about him and I don’t know how to do that. My research has turned up nothing.
