Was just reminded of a discussion I had with an instructor (and second-wave feminist) for a gender studies class who was baffled by women who chose to wear corsets. When I told her that if they are choosing to wear them, what’s the difference.
But then she just couldn’t fathom a woman wearing an uncomfortable piece of clothing that used to be forced on women to wear. But like...people said that about bras. No one says that about bras anymore though. People can reclaim stuff. She refused to accept that.

The binding and compression IS the appeal for me, I have SPD and that's one of the only ways i can simulate body-blindness, plus the materials themselves FEEL good--satin, leather, it's sensual in a way that makes no demands on you

Yeah, she could not deal with the concept that many women enjoy wearing them. I didn't even mention there are plenty of men and nb people who wear them too. I also mentioned that I enjoy the aesthetic of a corset and have worn one too (I made one once, wasn't great though).
