I remember years ago there was talk of a serial killer who was a trucker (maybe) killing sex workers in Alberta. I don't think the poltice ever acknowledged the fact that it was a serial killer, but the media suggested it, questioned what was being done.

Sorry, I should be clear: many of these women were Indigenous, and I don't know if any of them were sex workers (I recall that was what was said back in the early 2000s in the media though). But they were hitchhiking.
