The Women’s mini marathon in Dublin is great, but the fact that even the sidewalks are closed to pedestrians is sorta frustrating.

Roads being closed, okay, but the sidewalks aren’t being used. They are forcing people who live on the route to take huge detours.

Like...I have a leg injury, I can’t detour 6 blocks.

I appreciate that people let me through after I explained I can’t walk for ages but I’m seeing lots of people trying to get home or get to a hotel being held up. The mini marathon is not well advertised, I live here and I had no idea when it was happening.

Not to mention the roads and sidewalks are closed for ages. I have no clue if it’s started, starting, or over.

I remember trying to move to my place around this time with the marathon on and my area is entirely enclosed, pretty much.

And they close off several side streets, so it’s not even just the route.

Okay so it is clear that what they close off and what they don’t is arbitrary since there is no security were it runs near my place, but huge security after the finish race and several adjacent streets.

Forced to detour on my way home and now I feel ill and sore.
