Obviously the Fallout series is open to a lot of criticism but I gotta say...people apparently also did not like the extreme tone change between FO1 and FO2, as they were pretty different.
There is something to be said about the 50s nostalgia in the game and why a world in 2077 was in that mentality still, although there is something to be said about the resurgence of nostalgia a few decades later. The 80s saw a 50s nostalgia, for instance.

So historically that has some precedent. Now we’re seeing 90s nostalgia, but a lot of that was based on 70s nostalgia so we’re getting weird levels.

But in playing through FO3 and 4, I felt the games were pretty optimistic rather than backwards looking like people are saying. Versus FO1 and 2 where honestly I felt rather depressed at the end of both. Especially 1.

I saw a comment about how FO4 returns to a nuclear family and...I mean other than the start, I don’t see that as a point of the game.

I see that deconstructed actually in the game so idk.
