Yesterday morning at Reserve. • Hearing frantic alarm calls by chital, sambar and langur on a misty Kanha morning, we scanned a patch of lantana from which some fifty deer were flushed. Then, the Dhawajhandi Female arrived with her eight month old cubs. – mjesto: Kaziranga

It's amusing how the police immediately becomes a gunda by one sided reporting. Drive on wrong side (daily) to drop kid at school, don't carry documents, commit a non-compoundable offence (vehicle has to be seized as per law), but start crying & it's all about heartless police!

The need is to have means to book this unruly mob for their behaviour/consequent actions for harassing wild animals. Forest and police authorities need to set an precedent, only then we can hope to mitigate this issue. We can’t even call it a conflict when it’s clear harassment.

Scratch, stretch, start your day! • mark territories in several ways: spray marks, scats and vocalisations. They also scratch tree trunks leaving cues for other tigers, like this tigress did on a fallen tree trunk in front of us yesterday morning at Tiger Reserve. – mjesto: Singinawa Jungle Lodge

Shocking. Suicidal. set afire. The planet up in smoke. But of course it's not making headlines, or even news.remember the visit to where they wanted, & got, oil pipelines.

Equally worrying is the Act, which treats like roads, super highways to ply heavy traffic of ships carrying oil, coal, coke which may leak, spill . and yes, we call it green & environment friendly the future is here. and its on

A winter morning in the Central Indian Tigerland. Mist rises, the grasslands glow in golden first light. A tiger manifests out of nothingness before vanishing like an apparition. • Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, 2020 •

just cannot figure out why a man eating tiger is in a fenced enclosure in a prine part of Ranthambhore tiger reserve. If he is to be kept in captivity all his life then why inside a tiger reserve? Send him to a zoo or put him down. What a mess? And who came up with this idea?

With the plans of cheetah reintroduction afoot and gaining a lot of media space, here are two papers (a main paper and an addendum to it) coauthored by Dr. Divyabhanusinh and me documenting the chronology of extinction of cheetahs in India published in the Journal of BNHS. (1/n)

A new tiger reserve proposal. This seems possible and must be done. A very good move. Will be Maharashtra's 7th TR and the 24th in the Central Indian Landscape.
