Look at this Mondrian painting, isn’t it amazing to see his influence across art, design and even architecture. Wait no, this is a Roy Lichtenstein! He copied / parodied Mondrian without attribution. Mondrian was inspired by Jan Toorop who was inspired by James Ensor. Relax.

A.I. won't replace humans, but the people who refuse to collaborate with A.I. will be replaced by the ones who don't.
It's a productivity tool, not a replacement for creativity.

We are changing how people interact with media, beginning with sports. This has been a tremendous effort, so proud of the team, partners and the crazy tech we’ve built. Get ready for interactive 3D broadcasts.

Without proof of position, spatial contracts and an open standard, it’s not the #metaverse it’s just vanilla XR.

It would be pretty fun to do a giant, internet-wide search and replace of ‘metaverse’ with ‘cyberspace’

A very rewarding project to be involved with - AR bringing awareness to endangered species - specifically Southern Resident PNW orcas. The installation is at the Smithsonian for the next year.

Wanted to practice using #Cinemachine in to do proper camera work, so I set up this quick scene yesterday afternoon.

All hydraulics, two giant pumps, two huge electric motors, lithium batteries, insane power. It was surprisingly delicate to the touch, gentle inputs gave soft movements. A quick jab would throw literally thousands of pounds of force. Intoxicating.

I got to drive Prosthesis, a giant mech. The video is of the creator operating, my performance was far more tepid. This thing is an amazing feat of engineering.

Last week I started working with @unity3d’s Cinemachine and I’m convinced that that package was created with
magic
, absolutely no way it was made with code

Nice to work with some analog triangles every once and a while

In the 1930’s, Alan Blumlein came up with an amazingly simple/elegant way of recording in stereo with 2 figure-8 mics rotated 90* from each other. The stereo representation is a spooky-accurate 3D sound. I’ve been messing with the setup and it’s SO COOL.

I’m hiring. You’re a CG Sup, a tech DP, you obsess over cameras, lighting and how they can automatically film dynamic scenarios. Bonus points for experience with volumetric data.

ML is great and all but when your training has bias, the output has bias. Garbage-in, garbage-out if you will.

Really interesting to see how fashionable < 180* shutter speeds are in cinema lately. So many examples in #TheCrown

Pubic service announcement: Don't lean super hard into your post processing effects to get whatever look you're going for. Go as far as you can with lighting and everything else. Heavy PPS work looks terrible, it smothers everything. Do PPS last and least.
