I'm curious what folks think about this. How degraded does a unit have to be to cross a threshold of being functionally unusable? Does type of unit matter, mission, skill levels? Tag anyone I missed

If you work on military power and effectiveness and you don't consciously push back against the hyper-inflation of tech's potential, your doing it wrong! How many tech "revolution" have we had since the '90s? I've lost count.

Slippery slope is a logical fallacy. "Russia’s War in Ukraine Doesn’t Presage a Chinese Assault on Taiwan."

I asked people what accounts they know are covering the Ukraine war the best... This is the list they came up with. It's a combination of OSINT generalists and Russia/Ukraine military experts. Hope it's useful! Avoid disinformation.

Pretty shocking admission from the Kremlin. If this is the level they’re admitting, the real number is much higher

The situation might change in the near future. But for now we should try to think in a more fuzzy way. Maps like this one, showing directions of operations of Russian forces are more useful. And they deny Putin's illusion of full territorial control. 11/

It looks like the Battle of is about to begin. When I wrote my study on urban warfare last year, pessimistic though I was, I never imagined that the next battle might be so close or so terrible.

Updated comparison between same-scale maps of 72 hours into the Iraq War and ~60 hours into the Russian invasion of Ukraine (per ). Once again, the acquired Russian territory (minus Crimea & eastern bits) is comparable to what the coalition had occupied by then.
