For the record, I was a wretched human until about 16 and I don't think we should just throw kids away because they make terrible mistakes. But I would like for that standard to be applied to everyone and not just kids who remind certain influential people of themselves.

A lot of people know their son will never get attacked by cops for playing with his friends but is probably at much greater risk of being exposed for the hateful garbage he texts to his friends.

Black kids/parents often have the opposite concern. I'm far more worried about how cops might interact with my little brother than I am about people seeing the dumb stuff him and his friends text about.

Lol I’ve made mistakes but I knew I had to deal with the repercussions of those mistakes. If he got booted that’s his repercussion. He needs to deal with that himself

I’m sure Harvard will manage to find an equally qualified candidate, and the student is already committed to taking a year off before starting college so there’s plenty of time to apply again
