The false equivalency is one of the biggest problems. Racist Trump supporters think Obama and Trump are the same, but that Obama had like some sort of racial training wheels. That is why they use victimization. It's truly a failure of education. It's also just plain racist.

It’s fundamentally laziness & fear: if your job can be reduced to taking quotes from both sides, you don’t have to put in any extra effort. Plus if someone yells at you for making lazy assumptions and equivalencies, you can just point out you “did [your] job”.
