For your information contested means when the regime forces are only present in the district center and the rest of district is 98% under Taliban control.

Are you sure Adam? TLWJ sets clear guidelines for what counts as what. A “Controlled” district may mean the Taliban is openly administering a district, providing services and security, and also running the local courts. LWJ may assess a district Taliban controlled if the 1/2

Surprisingly Taliban control more border areas in the North than in the South along Pakistan. Would have imagined a much stronger Taliban presence closer to Pak, based on reports of how Pak supported them.

The Taliban has expanded its ethnic base outside of its traditional Pashtun strongholds. Tajiks, Turkmen, and Uzbeks have been joining its ranks for a few years now.
