Regarding deep analysis of NIH and NSF, I wonder if
@open_phil has good materials available for some of what they’ve done. That would be an actionable hypothesis: one should triple the size of the TR01 type programs. And OpenPhil made at least a step into doing a real synthetic experiment on that, which was made easier by those grants being already written.
