Why is this contagious disease and it’s uber contagious spin-off taking 3 times as long to spread across the country as a normal flu type contagion. How does this square with your graphic demonstration with @FryRsquared on the 4 month spread of the mythical Pandemic on the BBC.

Meh, don’t worry about it. It’s just Covid. Just live with the virus, it only affects the old & the sick and they were going to die soon anyway so whatever and children are immune, there’s a magical barrier that keeps out the big bad #coronavirus wolf out & protects schools.https://twitter.com/lalytatweets/status/1346114359823626245 …

Instead of ignoring Italy last February, "it’s just the flu", "we are not Italy, it won’t happen to us", we—the rest of Europe and too many other countries in the world—are now ignoring the UK in January, "it’s fearmongering", "this new variant is just Covid".

Zoe symptom estimate data for England (at 7 Jan) now down 11% from the peak. London is now 25% down. All regions decreasing except SW (3% below peak but still up & down) & NW (increase seems to be levelling off). Note this still relates to infections in pre-lockdown period. https://twitter.com/cricketwyvern/status/1348257408590741504 … pic.twitter.com/jc56aLKtgN

could you please take into account also a possible trade-off? A high transmissibility means often a less deathly variant. High virulence instead means low reproduction or low transmissibility
