    This is great leadership from the federal level — prisons for profit are antithetical to the pursuit of justice. They are a losing deal for everyone except the shareholders of private prison companies. Next up, Virginia!

    The Senate passed my legislation 40-0 to expand local authority to fund flood prevention and mitigation. Alexandria has seen an alarming increase in flooding, and this bill gives our local gov the tools necessary to react to this NOW, as long-term projects are completed.
