Boris Johnson’s new immigration bill states that Irish citizens, who currently have the right to live and work in the UK, will “generally” not require further leave to remain here after Brexit.pic.twitter.com/wI1Em8yAc6

It’s very curious phrasing. Downing Street yet to explain what it means

Carefully inserting holes into the bill so he can manipulate it further down the line. I was under the impression bills were supposed to be objective and concise.

Yes, they still think they can play silly negotiation games with the EU members as if they're trying to flog a car

So following the ruling in @EmmandJDeSouza case today which rules against GFA & that Irish citizens in north are British & that we have to renounce Brit citizenship. That mean we would "generally" have to require leave to remain in our place of birth in N.Ireland? #IStandWithEmma

Knowing the outlook of this government I'm guessing that those Irish who "generally" won't require leave are those from the area that used to comprise the Pale? A former lover has compared him to Henry VIII so why not go all out I suppose.

A national security exemption? You’ll recall that during the Troubles some people from NI, let alone the Republic, were barred from entering GB.

I think one reason is that the law on the CTA needs ironing out as there are some quirks in it - like you can only rely on CTA if you’re coming from RoI -> UK. So an Irish citizen coming from France wouldn’t be able to... that’s what I was told about last immigration bill
