  1. Australia signed up to the Paris Agreement, committing to keep global warming well below 2 degrees. Here’s how the NEG compares. 🤯

YES! And 3. it’s somehow ok to forget that THIS VERY GOV tore down a working climate/energy policy that had required compromise btw ALP/Greens/Indeps, helping create the very uncertainty the gov pretends it wants to resolve & 4. that this crap deal will bring anything to an end.

This is an Australian Minister on a mission to sell more military hardware to the Saudis. Yesterday the Saudi-led coalition bombed a school bus in Yemen and 29 children are dead. I’m calling on the govt to condemn this bombing & end military ties

Queensland, Victoria and the ACT were quite right to reject the proposed National Energy Guarantee in its present form. To do so now would have been undeserved reward for the destructive actions of former prime minister Tony Abbott..

Thanks to Robert Manne for his insightful reflections on my book in SMH today. At the end of the article, he says: “I would like to believe (but I'm afraid I don't) that the nation will learn from this book, experience shame, and take action.”

States and Territories have poked Fed gov in the eye on the NEG, declining to endorse it in principle & recognising it locks out renewables. Fed Gov must rethink its plans.

Thanks, , for getting within a whisker of winning. Deciding to sit this one out was a tough call & I admire Alex’s strength. I’m sure this isn’t the end of Alex’s contribution to progressive politics because she still has a lot to offer

the is weird, the modelling has been hidden, the assumptions are bizarre, pretty much nobody understands the scheme they’re advocating for… & $550 is a lie. stop. think. study. fix. then, only then, consider implementing my latest for

The NEG, in its current form, proclaims to halt the energy transition in its tracks. It's a nonsense of course, but Australia needs a policy that recognises the future, not one that pretends to be able to stop it..

Today, new report warns that on current trends, 'many parts of Earth could become uninhabitable' with 'planet at risk of entering an irreversible "hothouse" climate". That's why want policies that cut pollution, not harmful deals to lock-in coal.

Glad to see some States starting to oppose NEG, esp as NEG deal now includes a coal slush fund. oppose NEG: it is worse for renewables than doing nothing. Whatever amendments might happen in Senate, Senate can’t fix it if Lib & Lab States do a dirty deal. We can stop NEG.

No!!! C’mon, Labor. The need help stopping these climate-denying drought-inducing bushfire-promoting coal-hugging dinosaurs. Fight the LNP, don’t support them.

Meanwhile, as one LNP Minister doesn’t care if climate change is caused by humans & another pushes to keeps coal-fired power open longer, this: Earth at risk of 'hothouse climate' where efforts to reduce emissions won’t stop runaway global warming

Management at a speculative gold mining company would blush at some of the outrageous claims made in the modelling the ESB “leans heavily on” to justify the NEG..
