Labor’s budget leaves millions behind.
It’s a betrayal of renters, students, jobseekers, young people and everyone doing it tough.
Here’s my budget reply speech.

In its current form, this Bill fails renters completely.
Even in the best case scenario, it'll see more people waiting for public housing, more people struggling to pay the rent, more people homeless and more people evicted.
Labor needs to negotiate with us and fix this Bill.

BREAKING: Labor just tried & failed to shut down debate and force a vote on their housing bill in the middle of negotiations, rather than work with the Greens and pass a plan that helps renters and invests billions in public and genuinely affordable housing

$2.85 a day for Jobseekers.
$9075 a year in S3 tax cuts for millionaires and politicians.
There's no way to spin this budget that makes sense.
These aren't hard choices - they're bad choices.

We’re also seeing the first spend on nuclear submarines. Labor is spending $9 billion to buy subs that will make us less safe. It’s a small downpayment on the huge $368 billion cost.
Imagine what that could be spent on.

It looks like Labor's PRRT changes might not force dirty gas companies to pay a cent of extra tax.
No wonder the gas industry is so desperate to get this passed.

The PRRT was famously written with the gas sector to make sure they didn’t have to pay tax. Labor’s weak tweaks are too.
Co-authored by the businesses facing the tax, Labor continues a legacy of corporate capture that’s seen government after government fail to tax coal and gas.

It’s high time for a Republic.
The monarchy isn’t just irrelevant. For many, it still embodies centuries of inequality, oppression, & colonisation across the world.
We shouldn’t still be swearing loyalty to a foreign king. It’s time for Republic, Treaty, & our own head of state

Labor can freeze rents.
Only weeks ago he called rent freeze ‘pixie dust’, but now it’s on the table at National Cabinet.
Labor now has no excuse for not freezing rent increases for 2 years and capping rent rises after that.
