The terrible limitation of the phrase “I feel” without identifying what #emotion it is that is felt is a problem in emotional conversational design. There is a gap, a lack of words #VUI

What about those of us who have Alexithymia?
-
Good point and yes, it was wrong of me to write that way. What I’d hope is that a greater recognition of emotion in communication and meaning making also allows a better discussion of diversity in emotional comprehension.
-
Rather like discussions of visual imagination, it’s easy (and I know I do it) to forget how that it is not universal. The diversity of human cognition is so much greater than NT people can think of. It’s why people need to tell them when they forget and exclude.
-
For me it’s always being on the fringes and not having that shared experience. Anything that broadens awareness and opens up understanding of different experiences is helpful. Even starting with my UX isn’t the same as your UX. it starts the dialogue about differences.

I’m trying to use the
#EuroIA workshop on human/machine conversations to lay out some ways of designing flexibly around intelligences with differing capacities for emotion/empathy. It’s not a hard binary between humans/AI & it’s not about all humans having same capacities -
Indeed. How can AI begin to be human when we don’t appreciate the full spectrum of human communication?
-
A theme in talk I gave at
#UXStrat in Amsterdam. We cannot design with range of new technologies without also having understanding the breadth and depth within ourselves.#Symmetries -
Perfect
. I’d like to hear your work sometime.
