    The City will resume collection of Bulk Waste today, July 6. New requests are now being accepted. Residents who have already submitted a Bulk Waste Request should leave their items at the curb until collected. Delays in collection are likely as crews work to get caught up.

    Residents who have already submitted a Bulk Waste Request for this week may leave their items at the curb, for collection on their next regular pick-up day. It is not necessary to resubmit a request. No new requests are being taken, until Bulk Waste services resume.

    In order to ensure the timely collection of automated (brown) cans, along with town home trash and bagged grass clippings, Waste Management is suspending the collection of Bulk Trash until at least Tuesday, July 6.

    INDEPENDENCE DAY SCHEDULE: All City offices, courts, and community centers will be closed on July 5. The Chesapeake Visitor Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Libraries will be closed on July 4 and July 5. There will be no changes to the trash or recycling collections.

    Yesterday, we celebrated the opening of Chesapeake’s new Fire Station 7 and Sixth Police Precinct, which will serve the communities of St. Brides and Hickory. The multi-service facility will also house a book vending kiosk to enhance library services to this area of the City.
