Whatever you think about his politics, his self pity, rage and baseless accusation that Democrats, desire for revenge on behalf of the Clintons, and left-wing groups led Christine Ford to make her allegations should disqualify him.

Kavanaugh's rage rendered him almost incoherent. When Patrick Leahy spoke about Mark Judge's own memoir, in which he discussed his black out drinking, Kavanaugh's response? "We can sit here and make fun of a guy with an addiction." Who the hell was making fun?

Sen. Lindsay Graham was just out of his mind. The hysteria and amnesia (about, say, Merrick Garland) on the part of the Republican men today was extraordinary.

Kavanaugh also made fun of Sen. Klobuchar, who had just spoken of her father's sobriety. When she asked if he'd ever drunk to blackout, he shot back (nastily) "Have you?" He apologized after the next break, which I was expecting.

The idea that Prof Ford is a "victim" of Democrats is a Republican fantasy. She testified voluntarily, said it was her civic duty. She, I assume, is proud and relieved to have spoken her truth.
