"BCryptGen" Oh god no Windows, Blowfish shouldn't be used for—oh name collision. I guess now there are 3 bcrypts: bcrypt pw hash $2*$, bcrypt the encryption util, and BCrypt some Windows crypto thing. Also I thought we weren't suppose to use user land RNG.

BCryptGenRandom is what I should have said. Regardless, I don't think it's based on OpenBSd bcrypt. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/bcrypt/nf-bcrypt-bcryptgenrandom … And yeah, we shouldn't be shipping userspace RNGs for cryptography, but for non-cryptographic applications, where performance is critical, this is fine.

Technically, it's "getentropy(2)" on OpenBSD and "getentropy(3)" on Linux. Regardless, that's the C function you want.
