If Democrats haven’t been as likely to take polls recently, Trump would naturally perform better in polls that don’t weight for partisanship or past vote. That’s probably why online polls are more stable (because YouGov does weight by past vote, for ex).

They are bad. 1) Lower participation than primaries 2) No secret ballot 3) Participatory biases against non-English speaking, night shift, families with kids, those with physical disabilities, and so on 4) 15% viability threshold is local rather than statewide (just use RCV!)

I don't know who needs to hear this, but caucuses are a terrible way of measuring voter preferences

What a game. Not a fan of either teams, but having lived near KC (Lawrence) for a few years and spending a lot of fun times in sports and non-sports KC contexts, I'm just so happy for this region and fans there. Really a unique, special sports culture. Congrats and !

This comes from a poll with a sample of 497, where 8% vote Yang (). That makes for 40 Yang voters people are reacting to here. Huge statistical uncertainty, but also in terms of magnitude, really small potential ramifications.

Excited to see this finally in print after first running analyses in spring 2014. The link between Whites' partisanship & racial attitudes is bidirectional, & relative influence can vary by context.

One of the great things about our panel data is that you can track preferences among the same respondents over time Who are consistent 2016 Sanders supporters backing in the 2020 primary so far? Check it out:

The data clearly show Biden is most "electable." 1. He does better than Sanders against Trump nationally and in swing states 2. YouGov’s polling reveals that voters perceive ALL the major Democratic contenders EXCEPT Joe Biden as MORE ideologically extreme than Donald Trump.

This was fun to listen to. Great summary of the research, mix of different perspectives, and discussion on the extent of generalizability in connecting the research to current day politics.

When research makes mistakes, even blatant ones, it’s almost impossible to set the record straight. and I discuss this in a new op-ed in Science needs to do better.

Why there's such a big split in Iowa polls: Sanders leads among voters who *say* they've caucused before or will in 2016 Biden leads among people who have voted in primaries before
