any narrative that claims to not be anti-vaxx while still encouraging hesitancy, delay, or the right to not be vaccinated, endangers public health that results from vaccination programmes. just because it's not 'in your face' (for you) doesn't mean it isn't real and damaging.

I also see you queried @RobForbesDJ about his post on the ACDP and vaccines too. Even though you don't follow either of us. So I can only assume you have some personal desire to believe the ACDP is not anti-vaxx. Well, sorry but that is incorrect whether you feel it or not.

I would prefer that you do not personalise this, and tell me what my motive is. Accurate characterization of the @A_C_D_P position, along with suitable critique where appropriate, is much more helpful than incorrectly labelling them anti-vax.

I have no problem with criticizing hesitancy, or pointing out the pitfalls of stressing the need for voluntary vaccinations. But I don't see that, logically, as constituting an anti-vax position, particularly when they have stated that they support vaccination.

Michael, at the risk of making this very comms 101, an understanding of the message we're transmitting is a crucial part of communication. If I tell you I'm not Q*non but I also share their theories and tell you to dyor, I'm an active part of that message. Same thing.

If someone states they're not racist, just "concerned about immigration", hear the real message. If someone states they're not sexist or homophobic, just "concerned about the nuclear family", hear the real message.

And if I tell you I'm not anti-vaxx, but that rubbing baby shampoo in your nose is an effective part of the fight against Covid, and also btw dyor on vaccines, then I know what message is being conveyed there too.

I hear you, but you still make an inference, and assert that they are anti-vax, without acknowledging their statement to the contrary. You therefore create an impression for your followers that does not give the full picture. How does your message stand up to a Comms analysis?

Telling people that they should do their own homework on vaccines, or offering "alternative" ways to treat this, is anti-vaxx behaviour. Maybe you have a different definition in mind, but it is. Whether or not they say that's not their position in another tweet is immaterial.

There is no asterisk here. History has no asterisk for South Africa's ARV/garlic-n-beetroot saga other than it was a failure that cost lives. "DYO vaccine homework, also have you considered shnarfing baby shampoo?" is the same thing.

We agree that was a failure that cost lives, but it can't be equated. Rhinologists have been using baby shampoo diluted in nasal rinses for years, finding it's better than salt water at preventing viruses and bacteria taking hold. But note, we don't claim it's a cure for Covid

The article you keep sharing has "BABY SHAMPOO MAY PREVENT COVID" as a heading. As in, that very sentence implies that this treatment can prevent Covid. Really. It's beyond irresponsible. I'm not having this conversation anymore.
