But there’s the rub... it’s not governed at all. Pure chaos, violence and looting. A disproportionate amount of SA budget goes into KZN and very little is achieved. Think Cape overtook it’s economy a couple of years ago?
Durban is the busiest port in the Southern hemisphere and handles more cargo than New York .

Yes but SA has others and a trade agreement would work just fine with the newly independent kingdom of the Zulus. Would still be better / cheaper for the rest of SA

The other ports such as CT would never be able to handle the additional cargo that currently goes through Durban & Richard’s Bay. CT is severely restricted in terms of possible expansion size. Already, its containers are stored quite a distance from the harbour due to this issue.
