    Yes! Great thread. The efforts of the five to gaslight the public into accepting their own, at best, partial view of history are possibly as awful as that view itself.

    I’m tempted not to engage because Wilentz’s Ahab-like fascination with the Project is unsettling. (I’ll come back to that.) But for now his repeated allegations of factual errors by and invite a response from those of us in the profession.

    Then there is the discussion of "Lincoln’s agreement with Frederick Douglass." This ignores Douglass's many strong criticisms of Lincoln's weak anti-slavery, published and in private correspondence -- for example, this one on Lincoln's 1st Inaugural:

    Predictably the corrections of "factual errors" by the 5 historians against the 1619 project contain factual errors and at least some of the "matters of verifiable fact" they cite are, at best, misleading half-truths. Example below -- please feel free to add your own!
