let's talk about the idea of black & brown bodies being viewed as disposable & as currency and the military industrial complex.

2. the amount of Blacks & Hispanics in the US military is disproportionately represented and growing.pic.twitter.com/wRM236Jj1l

military recruiters gain access to your kids while they're still raising their hand to ask permission to go to the bathroom.
-
they spend an inordinate amount of money to target and recruit minorities & low income people. https://www.nyclu.org/en/joint-advertising-market-research-studies-jamrs …
-
they're courting and grooming these kids when these kids are barely old enough to drive a car, let alone operate a tank. can you imagine?!
-
marketing plan: get out of poverty. break the cycle. an honorable career. get off the block. FREE COLLEGE!HEALTH INSURANCE! HOME OWNERSHIP!
-
how does that *not* sound like "living the dream" to a kid looking for a way out of the hood?
-
young people can be shipped off to war to fight before they're even old enough to legally have their first sip of alcohol.
-
I would have been sold too, had I not been aware of my mom's experience.
-
My family has been in America for three generations. My cousins and I are the first generation that didn't serve.
-
I have a friend who has chronic illness....her husband went into the military just so they could get her health insurance.
-
3. something is drastically wrong when people feel that the military is the only way to afford college, health insurance, & home ownership.
-
because remember, to get a "good" job and afford to be alive so you can go to work, you have to go to college. college costs big bucks.
-
4. They're working to make it even more enticing - sign on bonuses, shorter recruitments, etc.https://www.google.com/amp/amp.usatoday.com/story/97757094/ …
-
if you wave a 20k or 40k sign on bonus in front of an 18 yr old who's never seen or had that kind of money, is it easy to turn down?
-
as a grown adult, if someone says they'll give you an extra $20k or $40k just to work for them? that's a down payment on a house plus a carpic.twitter.com/L1zqatQVbR
-
sad reality is, our vets are *not* treated well when they get home. if they get home. homelessness, poverty, difficulty accessing services
-
imagine going to war "for your country" to get out of poverty & coming home on welfare (the same way you left).
-
then listening to trash politicians talk about how we need to cut welfare bc ppl need to stop being "lazy" & "get jobs" & "NOT MUH PROBLEM"pic.twitter.com/9fMskFVBNY
-
like sir or madam (most likely a white dude who never served or even dodged the draft cough cough) did you or did you not vote for this war?pic.twitter.com/OUrYHNv6eH

5. beyond that, imagine you get deployed & get overseas to "fight terror" & figure out you're actually an invader, not a liberator.
