    1. Please call me out if I make a mistake or do something wrong. 2. If you want to send me a message and guarantee that I see it, DM me. 3. I'm trying to be more disciplined in my use of social media, so I'll occasionally be away for two or three days. Don't worry, I'll be back.

  2. The devil wants you to believe that you're a special kind of wounded. The kind that no one can love and no one can heal. He's a liar. You are loved and Jesus can heal you.

That is rather like saying that “more people die in car crashes than in fires” while your house is on fire.

lmao a liberals guide to hating on the poor folk in a politically correct manner

  6. Specifically I’m advocating for more concrete and specific words to be used instead. “Rational” should be replaced with “conducive to finding truth” or “having tight beliefs about epistemology” or “consistent and coherent” depending on context.

  7. Yes. The Christian banning the word rational is exactly as strange as the stoic saying he can’t be harmed. Utterly confusing to the outsider and blatantly obvious from the inside.

people in the replies nervous that something so reliable is still not understood, but I've been saying that about the scientific method for years

The strongest opposition was of course from Catholics & intellectually+ethically responsible fundamentalists. One of the weirder things about the Scopes trial: both Bryan & Darrow opposed eugenics, though for quite different reasons. (Mencken and scientist witnesses supported.)

  10. Have these people not look upon the darkness in their own soul and realized that within them is the potential to say "To thy own self be true, and to hell with the world!" Or heard of what people will do to inflict harm on those they hate?

  11. > Fundamentally, harm is rooted in empathy. I don’t want to inflict upon you what I do not want inflicted upon me. Then what's so IMPRESSIVE about your abstaining to harm me? Also, what if you thought harming me was worth feeling a bit of emotional pain yourself?

I would add, if I might humbly do so, that even if the victims are not immune they may still feel it is worth it if it results in the rescue of the soul of the perpetrator, yes? Christ, for example, was not immune to suffering horrifically. Yet he went on with it.

  13. Oh, certainly, all of those things will harm the most sacred part of the individual, the soul of the one who does them. The victims, however, depending on their moral character, may be immune to harm.

And completely condemned by the Catholic church, as it always has been. Eugenics was always the pursuit of "scientists," never much of one from religion. Any claim to the contrary is a serious rewrite of history.

  18. One thing that even the likes of Ken Ham get TOTALLY ON TARGET is that the family of mankind is a family of mankind and aiming to subjugate the reproductive rights of another for “the good of humanity” is as morally wrong as controlling the reproduction of your sister.

  19. No. Eugenics was always done by secularists and progressives. Hell, sterilization is still condemned by some Lutherans and some Anglicans.

I try to tell skeptics that the scientific method is inductive and induction is never complete, therefore every theory is in some sense incomplete. They think I want to do away with science. Very difficult to get this point about induction across
