To clarify, this sentence is intended to be read as 16% of people (at a midpoint) are asymptomatic and asymptomatic people are contagious. Not that 16% of people are contagious. Some have pointed to being confused by how I wrote it.

So 16% of people who are infected with Covid are asymptomatic (and contagious)? Not 16% of the general public is asymptomatic and contagious?

Evidently, there's a difference between asymptomatic and presymptomatic...

Asymptomatic = people who are infected but NEVER have symptoms of illness Presymptomatic = people who are infected, have not had symptoms YET, but do develop the illness

I'm still confused. So of all asymptomatic people who are infected, 16% are also contagious?

I read it as 16% are asymptomatic and all those (asymptomatic) people are contagious.

Why is EVERYONE unable to articulate the concept here? - "WHO says asymptomatic people are rarely contagious." - "No, they said 16% of asymptomatic cases are contagious." - "No, what I meant was 16% of CASES were asymptomatic and they are ALL contagious."
