Super cool paper out in AmNat, discussing evolutionary implications of Allee Points in invasions (related to "pushing " and "pulling" processes):

There are many raw data files to sort through, and this is an added burden to a group of stressed co-authors. If anyone here is willing to volunteer a few hours to delve into data files to confirm there are no sources of concern (hopefully), or identify concerns, please reply

The work to get a dedicated data repository and consensus on an open data policy took years of effort (starting w/NSF in 2005), both in setting up processes and in getting buy in. There was a lot of resistance. Submissions dropped. Its value is now very clear.

I (Trish Morse) want to say 2 things. 1) a huge thank you to my colleagues at who got the retraction vetted & posted so quickly so the record could be fixed asap. 2) I'm glad today that Am Nat (the EICs, JO, Press) worked to get required open data a standard 1/2

While many of them are quite funny, I'd perhaps stop and think about junior coauthors before posting jokes about retractions. It's quite a stressful situation for them.

Evol2019 attendees - be reassured that this year daycare providers ARE ALLOWED and hence WILL change diapers! We've also extended hours to better allow you to see talks. During mtg registration you can also indicate interest in possible evening care for the Story Collider event.

In our recent AmNat paper, we find that standing variation in generalized stress responses (e.g., oxidative stress response) may explain tolerance of entirely novel toxins, facilitating host shifts and survival in new environments.

68 Student first-authored papers in in 2019, that's roughly half our output. Now, time to sit down for some intensive reading for the Editor's Student Paper Award in the coming month.

A new paper led by Nikunj Goel -- a former undergrad from our lab and -- has just been published in The American Naturalist . I was lucky to be associated with this. Take a look at the lay summary - which is very well written -
