There is a lot missing from this since it is such a massive topic, & the core sentiment really is "treat others how you'd like to be treated", but I have met a lot of new employers/collaborators who (usually innocently) miss a lot of this stuff, to the detriment of their teams.
For real, a lot of my employment philosophy is just not doing a bunch of stuff many (but certainly not all) AAA companies practice.
I have never worked AAA, for transparency, but have enough friends who have. I had 1 AAA interview in my life. While I appreciated the gesture, after the interview thay studio was clearly not really where I wanted to be.
A soulless tech park, separated physically from both the development teams & an interesting neighbourhood. The lead who interviewed me was unceremoniously fired shortly after my interview despite being loyal for 10 years due to "restructuring".
I want to be clear this isn't a condemnation of workers in AAA & I consider myself lightning-strike lucky to have wound where I am. It is, however, a condemnation of some of your employers' practices.
The erasure of individuality, the expected machinization of human beings, the absence of personal impact & ownership, the glacial & intimidating bureaucy (in which harassment happily festers). All common AAA practices ethical employers must rebel against.
