No. Since they said they don't favor a vote they could both simply abstain instead of voting no and stay consistent, still leaving it at 51:47, even 2 more abstentions don't change the outcome. They need to commit to 'no' votes or this doesn't matter and just gives them cover.

Depends on if they vote “present” or they vote “no”. If they vote “present” then republicans can lose up to 5 senators and still confirm the nominee with a 48-47 majority.
