My grandfather was flying air cover overhead in his P-38 when this treaty was being signed. He's still with us, and his stories are amazing. He was an eye witness to an integral piece of our country's history. Heroes, all.

What was the British/Commonwealth situation like towards the end of the war? Japan pushed back in Pacific to mainland Japan, but what about Burma, Malaya, Singapore, Hong Kong?

One of the favorite days of my Dad's life. After 76 bombing missions in Europe, he did not want to have to go to Japan and do the same.

My uncle served on the USS Missouri and was a witness to this ceremony. Little known to him, his brother was in the bay on a smaller ship. Neither knew where the other was the whole time they served in WWII.

General Yeager, My Dad was waiting at a Repo-Depot in Europe for orders to go to Japan when he heard of Hiroshima. He says he dropped to his knees and prayed a prayer of thanks for the War ending, and for the leaders of our Country, for the great new power they now possessed.
