Uber, Lyft and DoorDash are threatening to spend $90 million on a California ballot measure if they can't reach a deal with unions and lawmakers on legislation changing the rights of their drivers.http://apne.ws/KNVbplU

Do these people understand that they are destroying the ONE thing that made them so competitive... Yellow Cab Uber coming your way

The thing that made them competitive is that venture capital is willing to invest in companies that lose billions annually by selling their services below cost, hoping their long term strategy of bankrupting their profitable competitors pays off.

All I know is, that if a company or organization wants a ballot measure passed to protect its profits, they’re making more money than they’re telling everyone and it’s never good for the consumer or workers.

They’re losing money... their brand of disruption relies on selling services below cost with the long term strategy of bankrupting competitors with viable business models. They just have deep pockets willing to burn money in the meantime

The state had a rent control prop that failed. How will this pass if that failed? Will they straight up pay for a vote?

People don’t understand rent control, so they’re susceptible to disingenuous ads. I think people intuitively understand that gig workers are employees for all intents and purposes
