How very sad. A Nobel Prize winner with no medical coverage. Where was the honour and respect he deserved? Where is the respect every American deserves. Universal health care should be a given. Rest in peace Sir.

The gentleman probably had Medicare, the government-run health insurance, universal for all seniors. It covers expensive hospitalizations, but one big gaping hole in Medicare is nursing home care. Medicare has limited coverage of that, which is where he likely racked up costs.
