The one thing you can always count on in the replies to terrible events unfolding in real time is reply guys assuring everyone this only happened because 1) people were unprepared, 2) they'd survive it so much better, and 3) the emergency is actually no big deal.

When I was driving in NE always kept a box of supplies like blankets, water, tp, flashlights. Etc. Even ashes from coal stove for stuck. They say cat litter helps too. Guess helicopters dropp I ng can't get there.

This is horrible but I remember when I lived in the DC area and the city closed for 2 days because of 6 inches of snow. They couldn't handle it. Where I grew up, if it was under 3 feet, it was nothing. We were professionals though.
