Machin will be making his (official) switch to the Republican party soon. None of this matters now. He's out. He's done. Even the miners union has turned on him. The only chance is to throw out the child tax credits. And that can't happen.
-
He will not become Republican because he will not be special and chased after. Independent I can see. Then both sides will covet his vote. Joe loves the attention, make no mistake.

Who’s paying the money back?

It's all coming from taxing the people who can afford one less private jet a year.

At this point it is not about passing the bill. It is about keeping this thing going so your base does not know you failed before mid term elections.
-
I actually want the bill passed. It really would help a lot of people in this country. The only thing I don't like is some of the more life-saving stuff being wrapped into an any more controversial bill than it would be stand-alone. That was an irresponsible risk by the dems

As a moderate I actually don't see all that much wrong with the bill. Although there is definitely too much wrapped into it. For example the democrats should not risk losing the benefits for diabetics by wrapping it into this bill. That's the parts I don't agree with.
-
Certain parts of the bill should definitely be split off into separate bills.... to assure the life-saving aspects of it have an easier time getting passed.
