I also cared for my Mom who suffered from Alzheimer’s at home until the day she died. It wasn’t easy. But the days she would spend in rehab in what would be a live-in facility if needed would be the toughest on me and her. Good luck to Betty and her daughter.

The key here is for the entire family to get involved for her care…been there - done that.

As the Nurse in our family, I went on family leave at my Hospital in Denver and returned to Kansas to care for my Mom in home-before Covid in 2013. It still haunts me today, even with my experience as the most difficult thing I have ever done.

Following a six-yr decline, my father died in '96 of Alzheimer's. We were fortunate to have been able to keep him at home & my heart breaks for those who don't have the resources to do that.

Hang in there, Betty. Know that you are NOT alone spiritually! The enormous care we are providing for our mothers is nourishment for the soul. Stay strong, and don’t forget to pause from time to time in order to breathe deeply. May your family know peace in 2022.

I was a Cosmetologist, before I was hit by a drunk driver. After the accident I became disabled, but I had been a nurse's aide prior to being a Cosmetologist and this allowed me to have the skills and knowledge to take care of both my grandmothers and my mother.
